Mia was diagnosed with a benign brain tumour when she was just 5 years old. Her tumour left her completely blind and she bravely battled a huge range of health challenges; a legacy of both the tumour and her treatment. In the last 18 months of her life, Mia endured 10 separate brain surgeries to keep the tumour under control.
Mia and her Mum helped make a video to highlight the needs of children just like her. A few months after the filming, in August 2020, Mia passed away.
