Success brings recovery needs to Parliament

At the beginning of September, Success Life After Cure joined organisations from across the childhood and young people’s cancer community at the Annual General Meeting of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Cancer in Children and Young People at Portcullis House.

The meeting was an opportunity to bring the experiences of children and young people living beyond treatment, and their need for recovery support, into the conversation with parliamentarians.

“The impact of a brain tumour doesn’t simply end when treatment does,” said Sam James, Senior Operations Manager at Success Life After Cure. “Young people may face lasting challenges with their physical health, learning, confidence, emotional wellbeing, relationships and future opportunities. Survival is not enough.”

Success Life After Cure was encouraged to see the National Cancer Plan recognise the importance of specialist recovery support, including a recovery key worker for children diagnosed with a brain tumour.

“We will continue to champion a future where every young person has the support they need to live, recover and thrive,” Sam said.
